Special Guests

Dr Chadden Hunter

Dr. Chadden Hunter is an Australian wildlife biologist and filmmaker who has spent much of the last two decades working alongside Sir David Attenborough. 

His television series, including Wild Arabia, Planet Earth 2 and most recently Seven Worlds One Planet have won twenty Emmy and Bafta awards. 

Chadden joins us to share a multimedia presentation of beautiful imagery and never-before-footage, revealing the secrets of conservation in wildlife filmmaking.

Craig Reucassel

Craig Reucassel is an Australian writer and comedian who is best known for his work with The Chaser and for going through your bins on The War on Waste.

Craig has hosted two series of the award-winning War on Waste documentary. He has also hosted climate change documentaries Fight for Planet A and Big Weather. 

In 2020 he Directed the movie Big Deal, which looked into the issue of money in politics in Australia.

Larry Brandy

Larry Brandy is a Wiradjuri man from Condobolin NSW. He has been storytelling for over 30 years. He is a regular storyteller at cultural institutions, schools and preschools in Canberra and regional NSW. He has written 4 children's books which introduce children to Wiradjuri culture.

Fiona Veikkanen

Canberra Environment Centre's Fiona Veikkanen will share how to get your compost system thriving. 

Bring along your composting questions- we’ll cover the basics of composting and worm farming and answer all your burning questions. 

Get ready to transform kitchen scraps into nutrient rich black gold for your garden.

Heidi Merika

Join Wildcraft author and naturopath Heidi Merika who will share a practical guide to using wild plants commonly found in your back garden.

Creative First Aid

Makeshift co-founders and authors Caitlin Marshall and Lizzie Rose will bring Creative First Aid to life through a Q and A format discussion about their book, an introduction to the methodology of Creative First Aid and a series of hands on live prescriptions.

Ariana

Ariana is an acoustic pop artist and a Ranger for the Ginninderry Conservation Trust and an Educator. She combines her love for music, children and the outdoors to create a set for all to enjoy.

Minh Ha

Minh Ha is a solo artist who blends a concoction of sounds to create his raw blues and roots feel for his audience.

Touchasoul

Kirrah entered the music scene at age 7 and has toured with the Ministry of Sound Orchestrated Tour, supporting Adam Lambert, Rita Ora and James Arthur.

Ashley F with Jonty

Sit back and enjoy the atmosphere and the afternoon with DJ Ashley F and saxophonist Jonty.

Workshops

Creative First Aid

Join authors Caitlin Marshall and Lizzie Rose as they take you through Creative Prescriptions from their new book Creative First Aid, the science and joy of creativity for mental health.  Books will be available for purchase and signing.

Nature Art Journaling

Nature journaling is the perfect way to slow down and begin to appreciate the natural world around you. Best of all, anyone can do it. This workshop will introduce you to a wonderful way of enjoying nature and creating lasting memories.

Basket Weaving

Join Ronnie Jordan and learn the art of traditional weaving that has been shared for many thousands of years.

Hapa Zome

Use flowers and foliage to get creative with this natural fabric print making technique, and take home a piece of art! An excellent way to rejuvenate tired textiles, and get to know the incredible properties of flowers and foliage from your own backyard.

Making Clay Critters

Australian native animals make great inspiration for creative clay play. Come roll up your sleeves and get inspired by our native flora and fauna or let your imagination run wild.

Heidi Merika

To celebrate the launch of her new book From the Wild, Medical Herbalist and Author Heidi Merika will be demonstrating how to make an anti-inflammatory gel using local weeds that you can forage in your backyards and local parklands. This gel can be used for bites, stings, arthritis and joint and muscle pain from strain and inflammation. Heidi’s new book From the Wild will be available to purchase on the day.

Yoga For Families

Enjoy a peaceful Yoga session on site to start your day at the Inspire Festival with Mel from Wild Yoga. Mats will be provided.

Potting Up

Join us all day for various activities near the veggie patch as you can pot up plants, seeds and seed bombs with the Inspire Team.

Mini Wicking Beds

Learn how to make a mini wicking bed and take home your very own self watering pot. Upcycling materials you already have at home is a great way to get your plants popping this Spring.
