Susan Wearne is Deputy Chief Medical Officer in the Australian Government Department of Health. and Senior Medical Adviser in the Health Workforce Division. She works on the Australian government policies and programs to teach and train quality health professionals and promote their distribution. She works part-time as a GP in Canberra.
Susan trained and worked as GP and academic in England prior to joining Flinders University in Alice Springs. Her work for the Remote Vocational Training Scheme sparked her interest in technology enabled learning, and her PhD on remote GP supervision. Her general practice textbook, that started as teaching materials for GP registrars and IMGs in central Australia, is now in its fourth edition.
