Dr Jason Agostino – General Practitioner, Senior Medical Advisor at NACCHO, Epidemiologist in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health.

Special interests: epidemiology, research in prevention of chronic diseases for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and understanding new models of primary health care.

Jason is a GP and an epidemiologist with a focus on the health of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. He did his GP training with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in Far North Queensland and has been a GP at Gurriny Yealamucka, an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service in Yarrabah for over a decade.

Following his GP training he trained as an epidemiologist. He has combined this with his skills as a GP in a number of roles in academia and health care policy. He is the senior medical advisor at NACCHO, the National Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation, where he works on primary care reform and better use of health service data. 

He is also an honorary clinical associate professor at the ANU, where his research focuses on improving the prevention of chronic diseases for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and understanding new models of primary health care.
