Ben is an Associate Professor at the Centre for Social Policy Research. He has 25 years of experience as an economic and social researcher in Australia. Ben manages the ANU's microsimulation modelling team which mostly focusses on the Australian tax and welfare system. Most of Ben's research focusses on modelling social and economic policy in Australia in the areas of personal income tax, welfare, superannuation and housing. Ben is a member of the Government's Economic Inclusion Advisory Committee (EIAC).  Ben undertakes a range of academic and consultancy research for government, community and industry sectors.

Prior to joining the ANU Ben was responsible for a range of modelling projects at NATSEM including the STINMOD microsimulation model of Australia’s tax and transfer system. Ben has also held roles at the ABS as a methodologist and economist and the Housing Industry Association as a senior economist.
