LTCOL Joost Tuinman

LTCOL Joost Tuinman is an Army Special Operations officer in the Netherlands Armed Forces with 20 years of experience in the Special Operations enterprise. As a leader, practitioner and scholar he is focused on force and capability development, strategic competition and the future of special operations. He has held the positions of Chief Commander’s Advisory Group (CAG) NLD SOCOM, multiple command position within the Army Special Operations Regiment and Armed Forces Capability Development. He has an MMAS degree from the US Army Command & General Staff College and a M.Sc. in Defense Analysis from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey (USA). 

Joost has contributed with multiple chapters to the book Into the Void: Special Operations after the War on Terror. As a practitioner he has been deployed in the Middle East and Africa frequently and has seen real life examples of strategic competition and rivalry. Most recently he has served as the military advisor to the Commander of the NATO Mission in Iraq (NMI).
