David Olsson AM

Mr David Olsson AM is the National President and Chairman of the Australia China Business Council. He is a global business leader and a legal expert on international trade, investment and financial markets.

He is also an International Director of law firm King & Wood Mallesons (KWM),

Mr Olsson is a former Managing Partner of KWM in Australia, and a senior partner in the firm’s Beijing office. He has more than 30 years’ experience as a lawyer including in Australia, UK, the Middle East and Asia.

In his business roles, Mr Olsson has focused on major global, legal, policy, economic and business challenges and shifts, including in the areas of banking and finance, trade and investment , climate change and sustainability.

Mr Olsson is Chairman of the board of the Australian National University (ANU) Foundation; a member of board of ANU’s Australian Centre on China in the World and sits on several advisory boards focused on Australian business engagement in the Asian region. He is a business champion for the Australian Government’s ‘New Colombo Plan’ which supports the exchange of students between Australia and China and a member of the Business Council of Australia’s Global Engagement Committee. He is a previous Chairman of the China-Australia Chamber of Commerce, Beijing and a former member of the boards of international and Australian companies.
